Application Process & Forms

The following documents must be submitted by the filing deadine:

  1. Application form. One copy signed and notarized. Please take the time to make a copy for your records.
  2. Applicable filing fee in the form of a personal or business check, money order, or certified check payable to the NM Board of Bar Examiners or by credit card via our credit card authorization form. The Board does not accept cash payments.
  3. If not already submitted: A credit report with credit score from one of the three major credit reporting agencies printed within 30 days of submission of your application for admission.This credit report MUST be included with your application. A free credit report is available once every twelve months on www.annualcreditreport.com.
  4. Laptop Release of Liability Form. You must submit a release of liability form to use your laptop to write the exam. However, if you change your mind and choose not take the exam on laptop, submitting the form does not commit you to registering for the software.
  5. Test Accommodation Request. Please see instructions for accommodation requests.

There is a secure mail drop in the office door; you may also drop off your application materials at any time.

February 23-24, 2016: Exam Dates

January 10, 2016: Re-exam Filing Deadline

Re-exam Filing Fees: 

  • Applicants within one year of their first New Mexico Bar Exam: $100
  • Applicants who postponed taking the exam, at the next exam administration: free
  • Applicants more than one year from their first New Mexico Bar Exam: $1000

No re-examination applications will be accepted after the filing deadline and no part of the filing fee is refundable. 

July 26-27, 2016: Exam Dates

June 10, 2016: Re-exam Filing Deadline
